Pre & Post Tan Instructions

You work hard for your money! Make your tan look flawless and last as long as possible by following these pre/post tan instructions!

PRE-Tan Instructions

SCRUB-A-DUB

Exfoliate your whole body the day before your healthy hue. Use an exfoliating mitt or a washcloth and get all the places! Pay extra attention to the hands, feet, knees and elbows. This ensures an even tan and an even fade! So important!

Shave & Wax

Shave and/or wax the DAY BEFORE your Healthy Hue. Shave what you normally shave. Wax at least 24 hours before your appointment. Your skin needs time to reset itself

NO NO NO

No makeup (meh, mascara is ok).

No lotions, oils or perfumes on your skin the day of your Healthy Hue

No deodorant

Come with product free skin and you’ll be good to go!

Bum It

Either come wearing loose fitting clothing or bring some with you. A loose dress would be ideal but let’s get real, if it’s winter, no one is going home in a dress. Just be sure to pick clothes with the least amount of bands as possible.
All the products I use are water based so it will never stain!

POST-Tan Instructions

  • Don’t touch your body, the bronzer can transfer to your hands
  • Don’t get wet!!! You don’t want to ruin your Healthy Hue!
  • When it’s time to rinse use warm, not hot water. Don’t use soap and make sure to get all of the bronzer off using your hands. No loofas or washcloths and pat yourself dry
  • Start to moisturize your skin after your tan has developed and you’ve rinsed off. The best moisturizers are the ones with the least amount of ingredients and chemical-free! Note that some moisturizers have ingredients that can strip or streak your tan. I have super dry skin so olive oil and coconut oil are my favorites!

Spray tan tips

  • Get all other beauty services done before your appointment. Waxes and massages need to be done 24hours before or after your tan
  • Stay out of pools containing chlorine for 24 hours
  • If you’re going to be in a pool containing chlorine, rinse your body off when you’re finished so the chlorine doesn’t sit on your skin
  • Keep hair removal such as shaving to a minimum. Shaving will exfoliate your skin which in turn, fades your tan faster
  • Keep your skin moisturized! This will ensure your tan stays on as long as possible. Lotion up morning and night and drink plenty of water
  • Before working out, put a little baby powder on your sweat prone areas to avoid your tan from breaking down and always rinse your body off after your workout so the sweat doesn’t sit on your skin
  • If you’re a frequent flyer of a Healthy Hue, making sure your previous tan is off prior to coming back is the perfect formula for an even glow. You can use a tan remover or simply lather your skin in baby oil, leave it on your skin for 5 minutes (but no more than 10 min.), then shower and exfoliate your skin with an exfoliating mitt.
